Rogers Group, Inc. Contracted Charion to Build Their Internet Site
Rogers Group, Inc. is a road construction and rock quarry company based in Nashville, Tennessee, but with many locations in several states. With an annual revenue of around $540,900,000.00 Rogers Group Inc. is one of the nation’s largest private crushed stone producers.
Charion was contracted to work with their talented IT and Communications Departments to redesign this 400-page Internet site and prepare it to become an eCommerce site, as seen in the Flash movie above. Each section has its own landing page and archive page that allows clients to access any article ever written for the site. Charion also wrote several of those articles.
Each section provided in depth information about everything including: the way rock is made, community involvement, where to purchase products online, and articles about the industry. There were also mini web sites for each field office, which provided directions, hours, phone numbers, photos, and articles about local events in which the company participated.
Because of their motto, Together We Create Opportunities for People to Succeed, Charion photographed employees in the field for use in all of Rogers Group, Inc. media. The photos were so successful the corporate office had 22" x 30" copies framed to line the halls on all three floors.
The images in the banner above were part of a campaign Charion was developing with billboards. At the time, there was a lot of animosity toward road workers. She wanted to show real faces of those workers to press home the point that these are people you might know.
The site has changed a lot in appearance since Charion left. The Flash movie above more closely represents the site as it appeared when she maintained it. The site received Rogers Group's "President's Award for Excellence" in 2000. Charion wrote many of the articles for this site, the Intranet site and the monthly newsletter.
